"I began to spin when I was 11 years old.  I did extensive research on spindles and early spinning wheels for presentations given at both county and state fair through my 4-H club.  I have spun wool, cotton, silk, cashmere, angora(goat and rabbit), dog, and llama.  I have been knitting for 11 years and especially like to knit lace.  I learned to crochet as a child but have not pursued this skill far beyond simple projects.  I have woven on both small and large looms but am still a novice in this area.  As I grew older I served as a junior leader in my spinning 4-H club and took on the education of younger members. In other teaching experience, I have served as a tutor in a variety of subjects for homeschooled children.  I spent 3 years working for a children’s art studio (as art director for the last year) in Naples, FL.  I enjoy young children and am excited to embark on a new semester full of fun. As a general bio, I grew up in South Dakota and Oregon and was homeschooled my whole life.  I appreciate the flexibility and personal attention that homeschooling provided.  I spent 2 years in Guatemala doing mission work with my family before I returned to the States.  I graduated from Ave Maria University with a major in literature. "

Beatrice has taught the art of magic to her children and their friends and parents (even a magician!) She has been a student of Alvin Goodman, founder and teacher at Pinecrest Magic Club for several years. Says Beatrice, “He taught me not only the love of magic but also the love to share this magical skill. This club was incredible since not only Alvin taught classes but 2 other great magicians that have international recognition shared their skills as well. All three magicians believed in the special magic using simple household objects. Kids sometimes feel that the magic is in the gadget, therefore I will also use inexpensive prefabricated gadgets in my class.”
